The Importance of Ears in a Shih Tzu's Life
Hi beautiful people.
It is me, Smokey the Shih Tzu.
Today, I want to talk about something very special: my ears. Yes, these soft and fluffy Shih Tzu ears hear everything. And I mean everything.
People think ears are just ears. But for dogs like me, especially Shih Tzus, ears are much more. My ears help me understand the world. They tell me when you are happy. They tell me when you are sad. They even tell me when cheese is being unwrapped.
A Dog's Perspective on Sound
If you open the fridge, I hear it. If you whisper the word snack, I hear it. If you crack open a banana, I hear it. I always hear it.
Shih Tzus are royal dogs. We were bred long ago to be companions to Chinese emperors. We sat in their laps, comforted them, and warmed their hearts. It is in my nature to stay right beside my cuddle buddy. To follow you from room to room. To stay nearby no matter what.
The Unique Characteristics of Shih Tzu Ears
My ears do not stand tall like a German Shepherd. They flop softly. They bounce when I walk. They flutter a little when I hear excitement. They say so much without a single word.
When you laugh, my ears lift just a little. When you sigh, my ears relax and rest low. When you say "good boy," my ears give a tiny wiggle. That is how I show I am listening. That is how I show I care.
Following You Everywhere
I follow you everywhere: bathroom, kitchen, living room, laundry room. Yes, even when you go to check the mail. Not because I am clingy. Not because I want attention all the time. I follow you because I love you. You are my cuddle buddy. My comfort. My favorite friend in the whole world.
I hear your footsteps before I see you. I hear your voice even when it is tired. I hear your laughter when you try to hide it. I hear your heart even when it is quiet.
The Allure of Velveeta Cheese
And yes, sometimes I follow you because I think you might drop food. Especially something wonderful like Velveeta cheese. Have you smelled Velveeta cheese? It is soft, melty, and perfect. It makes my ears wiggle and my mouth water.
But even when there are no snacks, I am still right by your side. Love is not just about treats. Love is something much bigger. Something soft and warm like resting beside you on a quiet day. Something steady like listening when you need a friend.
The Role of Shih Tzus in Your Life
Shih Tzus were not made for guarding or chasing. We were made to love, to listen, to comfort, and to stay close. We are dogs of the heart: soft, loyal, and steady.
But me, I am a little different. I try to guard in my own way. I alert, I watch, and I protect the people I love. Just because I am small does not mean I do not care big. I am still your cuddle buddy, just with a brave heart.
The Message Behind My Ears
My ears are small, but they carry a loud message: I hear you. I feel you. I love you.
So when you see my ears tilt or flop, know that I am listening. If they rest softly while I sit beside you, know that I am present. If they perk up when you come home, know that I am happy. It is my way of saying I hear you. I love you. I am here.
Thank You for Listening
Thank you for listening to my story about my Shih Tzu ears. Thank you for loving me. Thank you for being my home. I love you more than treats, more than toys, more than naps in the sun. And yes, even more than Velveeta cheese.
